Writing, Painting & Calligraphy
with Rosa and LeoPowerCat

I met Rosa by chance in 2008. I was standing in line at a government cafeteria trying to order lunch and Rosa translated for me. We then ate lunch together and she invited me to her house. I thanked her for her kindness and explained I already had a place to stay. But when I got back to the Art Center where I was staying, there was a sign saying it would be fumigated that evening, so I called Rosa and she happily sent her daughter to bring me to her home. We then spent the week-end together and had a wonderful time.

On my second visit to Taiwan, she chose for us to spend one night at a hotel in Nanyuan, which was a renovated palace that had been created by a wealthy publisher at the beginning of the twentieth century. The grounds were exquisite. Rosa painted and I worked on Monkey King. We both adored the tour guide Leo so we went back to talk to him. In exchange for giving tours, he lived on the grounds and had quiet and space to paint. We performed chi gong for him and he drew the Heart Sutra for us, which very soon brought a crowd of onlookers.
